BIO:
Huffman was born in Newton, Kansas in 1986 and received his BFA in painting and printmaking in 2008 from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. In 2012, he earned an MFA in painting with honors from the University of Kansas. He has taught courses in drawing and painting for more than a decade at the University of Kansas, KS; the University of Denver, CO; the University of Colorado Denver; CO, the Metropolitan State University, CO; and the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, CO. He currently lives and works in Denver, Colorado.
In 2025, Huffman’s exhibitions included a solo show entitled Curve Ahead with the David Richard Gallery (NYC), a three-man show entitled In Technicolor in Sausalito, CA, along with a site-specific-mural corresponding with 7-paintings included in an immersive exhibition entitled Patterned Realities at the McNichols building in downtown Denver, CO. In the late summer of 2025, Huffman completed a 144’ x 6’-long permanent public installation entitled Current Projection in downtown Denver that plays with light and shadow constructed out of curve-shaped translucent colorful acrylic panels. In early 2024, Huffman was curated into the group show No Straight Lines with the Hexton Gallery in Aspen, CO, and his work was shown alongside Herbert Bayer, Kenneth Noland, Richard Carter, Evan Hecox, and Phillip K. Smith III. No Straight Lines was tracing the impact of artists, collectors, and institutions on the development of modern Aspen from the late 1950’s through today. Pardon Collection acquired Huffman’s work in the recent past and it was featured in a group exhibition drawn from the collection entitled Subtle Shifts, at The Vault in Denver, CO that ran concurrently with his solo show entitled Spaces and Places in Los Angeles, CA (Edward Cella Gallery). Huffman presented a site-specific interactive multi-media installation entitled Domino Projection at the Denver Art Museum in 2020, and previously has made temporary site-specific installations at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (2019), the Gallery of the U. of Colorado, Colorado Spring (2019) and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (2018). In 2020, Huffman completed two permanent public art installations for Continuum Partners entitled, Modulated 32 (#1 & #2) in downtown Denver. The artist was awarded a two-year artist in residency at RedLine Contemporary Art Center in Denver (2016-2018) and with the Facebook Artists in Residency Program in Denver (2018) during which he created a permanent mural for their offices. His work has been exhibited at the Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin, Germany and in a public mural in the Old Dali City in Yunnan, China.
